Sinuiju international economic zone intends to build a comprehensive economic area that combines with industry of advanced technology, trade, tourism, finance and bonded processing.

Some areas in Sonsang dong, Sinbi dong, Nammin dong, Paekto dong, Songso ri and Thosong ri belong to it.

The plan is to develop this zone as a comprehensive economic area and global international city that concentrate in industrial area of advanced information and technology, industrial area of production, commercial area, trade and financial area, public service area, tourist station, bonded harbor, etc. by newly building an international airport and international port around it and connecting road and railway network together.
