Propolis is such a resinous substance. It is not a simple collection of resins form natural plants but a compound made by several enzymes secreted by honeybees, and the main chemical component is flavonoid.

Propolis produces antibiotic, snit-inflammatory and pain-killing effects, quickens the regeneration of cells and boosts the immunity of organisms. Therefore, it is efficacious against hepatitis, influenza, colitis, stomatitis, gastritis, sore throat, tuberculosis, bronchitis and prostatitis.

It is also indicated for the treatment of burns, injuries, pimple, dermatitis, miliaria, eczema and athlete’s foot as it inhibits the activity of germs.

Preparation: Put 200g of crushed propolis in 1L of over 70% alcohol for more than 10 days at a temperature below 10℃. Use the supernatant liquid or heat it at a temperature of 70-80℃ to evaporate alcohol before use.
